Laszlo Gardony Trio played on August 29th at the newly renovated and restored historic 1932 Criterion Theatre. Winner of the Great American Jazz Piano Competition, Gardony has been called “a pianist worthy of praise within the highest pantheon of performers” by Jazz Review and “a great pianist” by Dave Brubeck. Jazz pianist / composer Laszlo Gardony did perform original compositions and original arrangements of jazz from his new Sunnyside Records release “Life in Real Time”. Completing the trio were bassist John Lockwood and drummer Yoron Israel. Gardony is a critically acclaimed artist who has brought his soulful improvisations and compositions to audiences in 26 countries.
Bangor based Piero Brovarone, originally from Torino, Italy, opened for the Gardony Trio. Piero Brovarone expertise is well-known among musicians and his playing is well loved in many and varied settings throughout Downeast Maine.
